Operational Leadership Experiences in the Global War on Terrorism: An Interview with Major David Doyle. Combat Studies Institute, Fort Leavenworth, KS, 2005. http://cgsc.cdmhost.com/cdm/singleitem/collection/p4013coll13/id/76 (accessed 12 August 2011).
This is an interview with Major David Doyle. Doyle served as the battalion S3 (Air), a rifle company commander, and as a regimental liaison officer over the course of five deployments from 2001 to 2004. Doyle discusses his experiences in Afghanistan and Pakistan, including his unit’s interactions with civilians and with both conventional and Special Operations forces; the importance of refining the Rangers’ sensitive site exploitation techniques; and how his unit went beyond its typical “finishing force” role to often do its own reconnaissance and gather its own intelligence.
