Report examines U.S. agencies’ role in global health

Last month, the Center for Strategic & International Studies published a report on the Office of Global Affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Global Health within a Domestic Agency: The Transformation of the Office of Global Affairs at HHS reviews the history of HHS, its previous role in global health affairs, and anticipates HHS’s growing importance in the global health arena.

The report discusses the 2011 HHS Global Health Strategy, which paints a picture of a close relationship between international and domestic health conditions, as well as the emergence of global health as a part of U.S. foreign policy.

The report also touches on the importance of international and interagency cooperation in promoting global health.
