DHS to transform whole-of-government approach to cybersecurity

In a February 22, press release, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas laid out plans to update the Department’s whole-of-government approach to cybersecurity under the Biden Administration.

“Cybersecurity is more important than ever, and we will build on the Department’s excellent work as we transform our whole-of-government approach to tackle the challenge we face as a nation,” said Secretary Mayorkas.

The release reviewed recent achievements of the Department’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), U.S. Coast Guard and Transportation Security Administration, and U.S. Secret Service and ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations, and promised that “DHS will continue to build on these achievements.”

Later this week, Secretary Mayorkas will speak on how to leverage DHS’s partnerships to tackle the growing risk from ransomware, and similar engagements focused on collaborating with U.S. and international partners are planned for the near future.
