Essay contest winner to recieve free copy of “Generals of the Army”

Who is your “5-Star General”? Was it a teacher who opened your mind to a new way of thinking? A coach who pushed you to excel? A commanding officer who inspired you to do more than you thought possible? In honor of Memorial Day, the CGSC Foundation is conducting an essay contest about this very subject with the winner receiving an autographed copy of the book Generals of the Army, which complements the 5-Star Generals Commemorative Coin Program from the United States Mint.

Generals of the Army highlights the careers of the five Army generals who inspired the collectible coins and who led our nation to victory in World War II – Marshall, MacArthur, Eisenhower, Arnold, and Bradley. The essay contest winner will receive an exclusive copy autographed by editor James H. Willbanks, General of the Army George C. Marshall Chair of Military History and director of the Department of Military History at the Command and General Staff College.

CGSC Foundation staff will select the essay contest winner who gives the most inspiring and original answer to the the question: “Who is your Greatest Leader and why?” — Whether it’s a friend, family member, or famous figure, present or past, we at the Command and General Staff College Foundation at Fort Leavenworth want to know about the special person who has helped you overcome challenges and do your very best. Your answer can be as long or short as you like. We must receive your entry by 8 p.m. CST on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2013.

Visit the contest page on fivestargenerals.org for more details and how to enter.
