Chairman calls for information sharing legislation

In an interview earlier this week, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey spoke about U.S. vulnerabilities to cyber attacks. The Chairman specifically addressed threats to civilian and private infrastructure.

During the interview, Dempsey spoke of the need for greater information sharing between the U.S. government and the private sector, stating that cyber legislation is needed to facilitate this information sharing while safeguarding Americans’ civil liberties. Dempsey went on to share his concerns about vulnerabilities to civilian critical infrastructure, saying that “We haven’t done enough” to prevent the exploitation of these vulnerabilities.

The Chairman also spoke about cyber conflict, cyber adversaries, and U.S. Cyber Command during his interview.
