This article describes the use of CARSI (Central America Regional Security Initiative) funds by U.S. embassies to reduce crime, gang activity, and violence in Central American countries. Also, the Initiative is being used to rebuild the region’s police, court systems, and to address underlying causes of violence and insecurity.
