The Department of Energy, in collaboration with the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, announced on September 15 that it has awarded Cummins, Inc. approximately $1 million to develop a new disaster relief vehicle.
The federally-funded H2Rescue is a hydrogen fuel cell truck that was designed to meet the needs of military and civilian emergency responders. According to Energy’s announcement, the H2Rescue “will travel to disaster relief sites and provide power, heat, and water.”
