In uncertain times it can be difficult to know what to do. American hero Mr. Fred Rogers said to “Look for the helpers,” and looking around Fort Leavenworth, we see a lot of helpers. Helpers in uniform. Helpers in scrubs. Helpers behind desks. Helpers delivering food – and toilet paper. It’s time to help the helpers.

#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity that will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, and the CGSC Foundation is taking part and giving back.

On May 5, all donations received by the CGSC Foundation will be poured back into our community to support the wonderful people and programs that make Fort Leavenworth “The best hometown in the Army.” During this difficult time, Fort Leavenworth has shown itself to be gold standard in communicating the importance of new safety practices for the community, and the service organizations supporting Fort Leavenworth families have shown themselves to be adaptive, creative, and selfless.

#GivingTuesdayNow funds will be split evenly between four areas to recognize the amazing work going on in the community. These areas include:

  • International Military Student Families – support international officers and their families stationed at Fort Leavenworth;
  • Youth Reading Programs – bolster reading programs at the Combined Arms Research Library;
  • Morale, Welfare and Recreation Activities – boost morale within the Fort Leavenworth community; and
  • CGSC Foundation – reinforce existing programs provided to the students, faculty, and staff of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

With #GivingTuesdayNow, your donations will go farther and do more good. The CGSC Foundation has secured the help of a generous donor, who will match up to $5,000 in donations on this day, maximizing the impact your gift will have on our community.

Join the Foundation as we give back to those who have done so much for so many during this difficult time. Together we can ensure a bright future for our favorite hometown!
