Testimony outlines ICE role in enforcement, removal

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Sarah Saldaña recently discussed ICE’s work in removing individuals who have crossed the border illegally, have been convicted of felonies or misdemeanors, or have participated in various other illegal activities. Saldaña’s written testimony was addressed to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary.

The testimony highlighted ICE’s enforcement and removal operations, and notes ICE’s priorities in identifying removable criminal aliens to promote national security, public safety, and border security. The testimony also reviews collaborative efforts between federal, state, and local law enforcement and other federal entities, including the Department of Justice.
