DoD supports USAID Irma response

On September 12, the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Southern Command stood up a joint task force to support the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance in responding to Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean.

USAID deployed a Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) to respond to Irma’s devastation on September 7. The DART is coordinating with local authorities and humanitarian organizations to provide assistance to those affected by the hurricane.

U.S. government efforts in the area are ongoing.
