Albright, Madeleine K. and William S. Cohen. Preventing Genocide: A Blueprint for U.S. policy Makers. Washington, DC: United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, The American Academy of Diplomacy, and the United States Institute of Peace, 2008. http://media.usip.org/reports/genocide_taskforce_report.pdf (accessed 9 August 2011).
This report seeks to identify and outline ways to prevent genocide and mass atrocities. It is argued that genocide, apart from their high cost in human lives, also threaten core U.S. interests and national security. Also, inactivity on the part of the United States diminishes its credibility on the global stage. The report concludes that genocide prevention is achievable, but only with the right organizational structures, strategies, and partnerships (which are described broadly within the report).
