This article describes the experience of LTC David E. Flynn, former Commander of Combined Task Force 1-320 of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, a unit that served in the Afghan Surge of 2010. He discusses the high degree of cultural immersion, cooperation, and partnership between his soldiers and Afghan National Army forces during their joint operations in the Arghandab District of Kandahar Province.
