Davis-Monthan hosts 9th Angel Thunder

Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is once again hosting the Angel Thunder exercise. Angel Thunder 2015 is the ninth iteration of the exercise, and began May 30.

Angel Thunder is the largest and most realistic joint service, multinational, interagency combat search and rescue exercise designed to provide training for personnel recovery assets using a variety of scenarios to simulate deployment conditions and contingencies. The exercise provides personnel recovery and combat search and rescue training for combat aircrews, pararescue, intelligence personnel, battle managers and joint search and rescue center personnel.

Angel Thunder 2015 includes nearly 3,000 participants representing U.S. military and U.S. government agencies, as well as personnel from eleven other nations. The personnel recovery forces will execute training scenarios from the Pacific Ocean to Davis-Monthan. They will also train through the full spectrum of personnel recovery capabilities with ground recovery personnel, air assets, special forces teams, and federal agents.
