DHS partnership to combat human trafficking
On December 11, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced their new partnership with TravelCenters of America. The partnership between the DHS Blue Campaign and TravelCenters of America, which was announced during Human Rights Week, is meant to combat human trafficking.
Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas spoke about DHS’s anti-trafficking efforts, saying DHS will “continue to broaden our network of partners, working towards our common goal to identify and rescue victims of this heinous crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.” The partnership aims to bring attention to and eliminate human trafficking along the U.S. interstate highway system.
The DHS Blue Campaign also involves law enforcement, government, non-governmental, and private organization collaboration, as well as partnerships with Western Union and the Department of Transportation and Amtrak.
