DHS, others focus on security for Papal visit

Security measures have been underway for months in preparation for Pope Francis’s first visit to the United States. Pope Francis will be visiting Washington, Philadelphia, and New York. These security preparations have involved the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the United States Secret Service, and multiple other federal and local agencies and organizations.

DHS and the Secret Service have worked with more than 70 agencies to prepare the new Multi-Agency Communications Center in Philadelphia, and similar communications and information exchange facilities have also been set up in Washington and New York. The Secret Service is working with over 30 local and federal agencies and organizations to prepare for Pope Francis’ visit to Washington, D.C.
