DoD releases joint publication on peace operations

In early June, the Department of Defense (DoD) released its updated doctrine on peace operations. Joint Publication 3-07.3 was updated in August 2012, and now includes new and updated appendices as well as additional information about peace operations.

The updated and new appendices describe United Nations involvement in peace operations and DoD mass atrocity response operations. Other updates clarify the relationships between the United States Agency for International Development and nongovernmental or intergovernmental organizations involved in humanitarian relief. The updates also emphasize the importance of interagency and multinational partnerships.
