Johnson welcomes new members to HSAC
Last week, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson met with the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) where he spoke about various homeland security issues and announced the appointment of two new members to the HSAC.
In his remarks, Johnson spoke about the future of the department as his time as Secretary draws to a close, saying “My principal priority is to leave the Department of Homeland Security in a better place than we found it so that it functions better, more effectively, and more efficiently in delivering our homeland security services for the American people.”
Johnson then introduced the new HSAC members. Michael A. Nutter served two terms as Mayor of Philadelphia, and worked closely with the Department of Homeland Security and Secretary Johnson on the operational security and contingency planning for the September 2015 Papal visit. Christian P. Marrone is the Vice President of Government Relations with CSRA Inc., and leads the company’s strategy for strengthening relationships across the U.S. government.
The HSAC is comprised of experts from state, local and tribal governments, emergency and first responder communities, academia and the private sector who provide recommendations and advice to the Secretary of Homeland Security on a variety of homeland security issues.
