ARNSF program leader Bob Ulin kicked off the Forum welcoming the ARNSF members and their guests. Ulin also extended a special welcome to the founding chairman of the CGCSC Foundation, Chairman Emeritus Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Robert Arter, as well as Chairman Emeritus Lt. Gen. (Ret.) John Miller. After lunch, he introduced Morgado.

In his presentation, Morgado provided details about into the the U.S. Army Command Assessment Program (CAP), the Army’s new method of selecting senior Army leaders. The program is in its sixth year and represents a major change in how the Army assesses, evaluates, and develops leaders. The principal aim of CAP is to present a more holistic view of an officer’s performance and potential as the Army selects commanders that will lead formations of hundreds and thousands of soldiers. Through a comprehensive assessment process, CAP provides more and relevant insights into the attributes and competencies of future commanders. CAP observes components of leader attributes not necessarily visible to their leaders. The Army’s process is generating interest across other services, international partners, and private industry.

After the presentation and a question and answer period, Ulin presented Morgado with a Foundation/Simons Center coffee mug and challenge coin in appreciation for his time with the Forum. Ulin also provided information about future ARNSF gatherings.
