#GivingTuesday – For Soldiers, For Families, For the Nation

GivingTuesday2020

This has been a difficult year. COVID-19 has changed the way we live, work, and play. By now, we’ve run out of toilet paper, we’ve lost at least one face mask, and we are all Zoomed-out. We’ve faced what at times seems endless uncertainty, but there’s one thing we are sure of: YOU.

We know that you are strong.

We know that you are generous.

We know that you care.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving taking place on December 1, 2020. #GivingTuesday encourages and inspires people to do good, give back, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

The pandemic has had a profound impact on Soldiers and their families. Late hours, frequent deployments, PCSs, changing schools, and children being pulled away from their friends all take a toll on the military family, including the families of students attending the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

Your support on #GivingTuesday helps alleviate the stress by supporting those families. Fort Leavenworth is often called “The Best Hometown in the Army,” but this military hometown in America’s heartland is only great because of YOUR support.

On #GivingTuesday, your donations will go farther and do more good. The CGSC Foundation has secured the help of generous donors, who will match up to $10,000 in donations on this day, maximizing the impact your gift to military families.

CORONAVIRUS AID, RELIEF, AND ECONOMIC SECURITY ACT (CARES ACT)
On March 27, the President signed the CARES Act into law. The act includes a charitable giving incentive which includes a new above-the-line deduction (universal or non-itemizer deduction that applies to all taxpayers) for total charitable contributions of up to $300. The incentive applies to cash contributions made in 2020 and can be claimed on tax forms next year. Section 2204. The law also lifts the existing cap on annual contributions for those who itemize, raising it from 60 percent of adjusted gross income to 100 percent. For corporations, the law raises the annual limit from 10 percent to 25 percent. (Source: National Council of Nonprofits)
