Throwback Thursday: Ready, Set, Read!
While currently closed to the general public due to COVID-19, the Ike Skelton Combined Arms Research Library’s (CARL) continues to provide excellent programs supporting military families sheltering at home, including Bingo for Books, Spring Into Reading, digital story time, and chalk drawing games. The library also provides educational resources to assist first-time teacher-parents, and CARL’s continued support of the students at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College is commendable.
CARL’s summer reading program helps avoid the “summer slide” in children’s reading skills, while also easing the transition of families arriving and leaving Fort Leavenworth.
The CGSC Foundation has supported the children’s reading program at the library for several years, and is happy to provide additional support to CARL’s reading programs through the Armed Forces Day campaign.
“Our Foundation is proud to support programs that encourage reading by military families and which add to the quality of life for military children,” Foundation Director of Operations Lora Morgan said recently.
Thank you CARL for all you do for the Fort Leavenworth community!
