USAID the topic of InterAgency Brown-Bag Lecture

Last week, Mr. Patrick J. Wesner, the Command and General Staff College Distinguished Chair for Development Studies, spoke about history and mission of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Three special guests were in the audience during Wesner’s presentation on USAID – Ambassador (Ret.) David Lambertson, Ambassador (Ret.) Laura Kennedy, and Career Minister (Ret.) Dirk Dijkerman, Ph.D.

USAID is the lead U.S. government agency that works to end extreme global poverty and enable resilient, democratic societies to realize their potential. USAID carries out U.S. foreign policy by promoting broad-scale human progress at the same time it expands stable, free societies, creates markets and trade partners for the U.S., and fosters good will abroad. Its efforts further America’s interests while improving lives in the developing world.

Wesner’s presentation was the seventh lecture in the new InterAgency Brown-Bag Lecture Series. Information on upcoming lectures in the series will be available on the Simons Center’s website at a later date. All lectures in the series are open to the public. – Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunches into the conference room for the presentation.
