Simons Center fellow joins COCOM task force

Simons Center Fellow and former Director, Ambassador (Ret.) Edward Marks recently spoke at a meeting at the Atlantic Council’s Brent Scrowcroft Center on International Security. The December 6 meeting was the second meeting of the Combatant Commands Task Force, which is made up of former State and Defense Department personnel as well as members of the private sector.

Amb. Marks’s presentation was part of a discussion on possible future restructuring of the combatant commands, and was well received by those in attendance.

The task force underscores the work the Scowcroft Center is doing in looking at how the United States should think about its defense priorities and strategy in the future. The task force meetings center around the purpose and mission of the combatant commands, the commands’ overseas presence, interagency cooperation within the combatant commands, and other related topics.
